The Kano State Government Has Recruit Over 10,000 Teacher To Its Free Education To Enhance School Enrollment And Reduce The Number Of Out-of-school Children In The State.

Kano State Government readiness to advance its free compulsory education programme, it has recruited over 10,000 teachers. The recruitment is designed to improve the teacher-pupil ratio, enhance school enrollment and reduce the number of out-of-school children in the state.

Governor Abdullahi Ganduje who was represented by the Permanent Secretary, Cabinet Office, Musa Yahaya-Bichi disclosed this on Monday at the National Consultative Workshop on the ECOWAS Post 2020 Vision in Kano. He stated that the aim of the ECOWAS 2020 Vision is to achieve sustainable social and economic development in the sub-region.

He noted that before the introduction of the programme to the state, the number of out-of-school children had reduced to less than 400,000 as against 1.3 million earlier recorded and will be further reduced because of its acceptability among the people.

Also speaking at the workshop, Mr Joseph Oyi, Head of ECOWAS Unit, Federal Ministry of Foreign Affairs stated that the workshop aims to gather the views of Nigerians on the impact of the ECOWAS Vision 2020 and also coordinate education in the region.
