Oyo Government Partners Technologists in Engineering to Forestall Building Collapse

The Oyo state government has announced mutual collaboration with the Nigerian Association of Technologists in Engineering, Oyo state branch, as parts of its effort to curb building collapse in the state.

The Oyo state governor, Engineer Seyi Makinde, disclosed this on Wednesday, during an interactive session with the Technologists when the experts paid him a solidarity visit in his office at Agodi-Secretariat, Ibadan.

While speaking on behalf of the governor, the deputy governor of Oyo state, engineering Rauf Olaniyan, charged the technologists in engineering to give adequate support to the present administration in its quests to transform Oyo state into a modern state.

In his remark, the chairman, Nigerian Association of Technologists in Engineering, Oyo state branch, Engineer Wole Ajagbe, explained the visit was part of the activities lined up by the association to commemorate this year World Engineering Day.

He further said that it is a slap on the face of the association that buildings are collapsing at will. Noting that measures have been but in place by its National body to stamp out quacks in the profession and set its record straight.

You will recall that there has been a spike in the number of building collapses in the country with over 12 cases recorded in 2019 with Lagos and Oyo amongst the affected states.
